Camel hair
Camel hair is shed by the Bactrian camels and dromedaries in the Arab countries and Southeast Asia in the spring and then collected. The sand-colored to reddish-brown fur corresponds to the quality of merino wool and is characterized by its rarity and fineness. The downy hair is easy to spin and creates very light and warming fabrics in proportion to its volume.
The very fine hair of young camels up to the age of 1, the so-called "baby camel hair", is white to blond and is particularly sought after.
