Terry cloth

The term "terry" comes from the French and is derived from the verb "frotter", which means "to rub off" or "to rub dry".

Characteristic of this fabric are its numerous loops, which on the one hand increase the volume of the fabric and ensure its high absorbency.

The subcategories of terrycloth include, for example, whale terry, it is particularly soft and absorbent, as it has a high number of loops. Twisted terry has coarser, massage-like properties, as it consists of two yarns twisted together. Velour terry additionally has a velvety feel due to its cut loops, and warp-knit terry combines all properties together: it is soft and absorbs moisture, but still has a light massage effect.
