The Goldberg Tonic Water YUZU is not only a visual delight. The Japanese yuzu fruit (citrus-like fruit) gives all taste buds reason to rejoice with its flowery, lemony scent. At the beginning of the 20th century, the pharmaceutical entrepreneur Jacob M. Goldberg from Frankfurt wanted to fight tropical diseases with his medicinal drinks. For his goal, he emigrated to northern India, where the products he created soon met with the approval of the British colonial rulers.
The tinctures once produced for medicinal purposes became refreshing soft drinks; Jacob M. Goldberg subsequently redefined his field of business. He carbonated his drinks, creating ready-to-drink lemonades that could be enjoyed neat or mixed with spirits.
Sailors in the British Royal Navy mixed GOLDBERG lemonades with their favourite spirit, gin, creating a trendy drink that is still ubiquitous on all good cocktail lists today.
