WILLIAM LOCKIE sources the lambswool from South Australia from the Pedigree sheep, which are bred there for the excellent quality of their wool and are known for it worldwide. The lambs are shorn for the first time at 7 months of age, then this super soft wool is spun and dyed into a wide variety of colors. WILLIAM LOCKIE knits this wool very tightly so that it does not tend to pill or lose its shape. We use the following Lambswool yarns: Super Geelong (19.5 micron), Merino extra fine (20 micron) and Lambswool (20.5 micron) as well as 30gg Merino.

For the 30gg merino products WILLIAM LOCKIE processes the original Wish® merino yarn from Loro Piana at an extremely attractive price. This very fine merino yarn (160's) has 14.5 micron and is therefore particularly soft and light. In addition, it shows a slightly shimmering color brilliance.

WILLIAM LOCKIE recommends washing knitwear in the wool wash programme (max. 30°!) at least after every 4th to 6th wear. Please turn inside out first, fill the drum only half full and spin at low speed. Please use a very good liquid wool care product (see accessories). After washing, lay flat on a towel, pull into shape while lying down and allow to dry. After drying, you can iron the knitted fabric from the wrong side to a low temperature.
If pilling develops, you can cut it off after washing with the high-quality wool care razor (see accessories).

William Lockie

As one of the oldest family-run luxury knitwear companies based in the Scottish Borders, William Lockie is steeped in history and tradition. "Lockies", as they are affectionately known, date back to 1874 and are renowned for producing the softest, finest, highest quality and most luxurious knitwear in the world. The secret lies in using the highest quality. Quality raw materials coupled with the precision of their manufacturing - producing knitwear like no other. Based in Hawick on the banks of the River Teviot, the Lockies are proud to be a family run business with skilled workers from the same local families and have been so for generations.

Cashmere, the so-called 'fibre of kings', is unrivalled in luxury, warmth, softness and durability.Cashmere's beginnings are humble. Mountain goats from the freezing climates of China and Mongolia breed a downy undercoat of soft short hair to protect themselves from winter temperatures as low as -40°c. This undercoat is cashmere. The fibre is then carefully combed from the goats by nomadic tribesmen. The transformation takes place in Scotland, where the waters are soft and where more than a century of wisdom and understanding of this precious natural fibre is transformed into pure luxury.

WILLIAM LOCKIE has always been committed to a passion for using only the finest and highest quality natural wool yarns. The women's and men's knitwear made from the best natural fibres represent an extraordinary symbiosis of authentic natural product and luxury. Perfection is the law here. Only the finest fibres are processed into a wonderfully soft knitted product here in the company's own production facility with the help of the particularly soft Scottish water. Traditional know-how and a high level of craftsmanship are skilfully combined with the latest technology to ensure the highest precision in fit and comfort. Great importance is attached to sustainability.
In the traditional Scottish production, which is still passionately run by the owner family, the following precious natural yarns are processed and also dyed: Cashmere, Geelong, lambswool, Merino, natural camel hair. The variety of shapes ranges from classic British to fashionable designer looks. In total, there are around 100 colours to choose from for all styles.
