The 5998 is the archetype of all Shoto shoes. The boot with the distinctive hand-inserted pleat and the 6-hole lacing with the 2 additional hooks already has its own fan base.
It is finished with calfskin on the outside as well as on the inside and is dyed spotted (tamponato) and then washed. It is the "high art" to treat the leather during dyeing in such a way that it does not become stiff and the shoe keeps its fit - this is also true for the hand-inserted fold. Then the shoe is dried slowly and gently in the air. The beautiful play of colours of the shoe is created by the different washing and dyeing techniques - the shoemakers of Shoto master this like no one else. The sole is a Vibram sole with profile.
